UK-based customer service and sales specialist EC Outsourcing have appointed a new commercial director to continue their rapid growth into 2022.
Jamie O’Brien, formerly head of commercial partnerships at OVO Energy, joins the Sunderland based firm as commercial director following a year of multi-year contract wins and staffing growth.
Managing Director Phil Westoby explains the appointment and what it means for the business.
“We’ve been aware of Jamie’s reputation in the energy industry for some time now, and had the pleasure of working with him last summer during his time at OVO. So it came as a pleasant surprise when Jamie informed us that he was looking for a new challenge and that EC Outsourcing was always top of his list of destinations.”
“It’s a great testament to the reputation that our team have built in the industry, as not only being a preferred sales and customer service partner but also as an organisation to come and build a rewarding career.”
With almost 7 years in the energy industry and over 14 years in telecoms with BT, Jamie brings with him a wealth of experience in addition to a strong background in commercial negotiation.
“I’ve always been curious about how EC create such a great people-focused culture which I believe to be the key to their great service and reputation. When I saw there was an opportunity to help scale that, I couldn’t say no.
I’ve been brought up in Contact Centres where I’ve held big operational, commercial and shared service roles while also spending the last 10 years in an outsourced environment. I believe that experience means I can really help build on that unique contact centre offering to help our clients transform their business.”
The firm recently opened their third contact centre; Solar House, at Sunderlands Doxford International business park, housing over 600 customer service advisors for a range of clients in the energy sector.
